Swalcliffe Park hosted the BRC Horse Trials Championships the weekend of 3 -5th August.
We fielded 2 teams and 2 individuals.
The 80 Team of Nikki Thackeray, Charlotte Bartle, Becky Sisson and Eve Marie Manchon all gave of their best with good performances in the dressage and show jumping but the challenging cross country course took its tool and took them out of the placings.
Becky Sissons had also qualified her horse Magua in the 90 Championships and performed excellently to take 4th place in her section.
The 100 Team of Elaine Hepworth, Sally Wood, Sara Lees and Tom Eastwood rose to the challenge and finished in overall 4th place after a nail biting show jumping session and with Tom taking the 3rd rosette in his section and Sally and Sarah taking 7th in their respective sections.
As an Individual Fiona MacDonald put in excellent performances in all disciplines in the 100+ Championships to take the red rosette in her section.
A very hot weekend but with good and supportive Team spirit all round made it a most enjoyable and memorable weekend – even the stables this year were somewhat closer!
We would thank all the Team riders and Supporters on behalf of the Club and look forward to next year.

SUNDAY 10 JUNE 2018 Arena UK

Another fantastic day at Area 16 SJ qualifiers.  Everyone did a brilliant job on a very long hot day.  It was lovely to see new members joining the teams this time and lot of baby horses, all putting up a really good performance.

The 110 class was won by Sarah Lees with Frisky.

The 100 Team of Louise Venus, Alison Garner, Sarah Lees, Fiona McDonald were 2nd.

The 90 Team of Cath Cox, Lucy Nixon, Sharon Stones and Jo Rushby were 5th and Lucy 2nd individually.  The other 90 Team of Jed Pedley, Eve Marie-Manchon, Sally Flowers and Charlotte Woolerton had a few little problems but all came away smiling and Jed was 3rd individually.

The 80 Team of Victoria Hopkins, Nicky Thackray, Sarah Lees riding my horse that she sat on twice, once last year and then for this event and I cant thank her enough, along with Lynne Ashley riding Basil who just didn’t want to play other than rodeo games!  Everyone rode so well and that was the winning team.  The other 80 Team of Rick Simmonite, Dale Edwards, Eve Marie-Manchon and Katie Woodall did a super job finishing 5th.

The 70 teams of Suzanne Wallace, Jennie Housley, Annabel Brownfoot, Lynne Ashley, Becky Sissons, Gav Scott, Louise Benson and Sally Beedham finished 4th and 5th respectively.  Becky and Louise got into a three-way jump off for the individual placings.  Both did cracking rounds with Louise just pipping Becky, so a 1st and 2nd placing for them.

The style team of Cath Cox, Sarah Lees, Sharon Stones and Annabel Brownfoot put the team 3rd and our individual rider, Pauline Brownlow who rode in the 90 and style jumping, also put in a good performance.

Thank you everyone and I will be seeing you all again for the Winter SJ qualifiers, well done everybody! Jan

Another good weekend for the EMDG at the National Championships at Bury Farm. Unfortunately the 110 show jumping team became two individuals of Katie Patrick and Nicola Baguley, both jumping incredibly well over a very tough course, Katie just having the odd pole and Nicola on her lovely little stallion jumped three fabulous clear rounds to finish 4th overall, brilliant result.

On Saturday the 90 team put in a good performance but luck was sadly not on their side.

The dressage team of Becky Mullan-Feroze, Becky Sisson, Fiona McDonald and Sally Beedham had a very good day, finishing in 8th place with team members and individuals being well placed in their arenas. Very well done everyone, you keep the flag flying well for EMDG. Jan.

The Committee has taken the decision that ALL riders in teams representing EMDG should wear one of the new saddlecloths.
These are available in NAVY – in both GP and Close contact /jumping styles and also in WHITE for dressage.
The cost is £31
They are not exclusively for teams and can be worn at all other events /competitions.
Please order via Clare Dolman on in good time for whichever team event you are doing stating which style and colour.
We will arrange to bring them to the event or can post them to you at an agreed cost.

Please ensure that your Flu/Vacc certificates are up to date for each competition as per the rules – found on BHS /BRC website.
If they are not (and they are checked before you are allowed to compete) then you will not be eligible to compete that day.

Please can you let us know if you are interested in being considered for either of the above competitions by emailing the completed EMDG Team application form to as soon as possible.

Please may we ask however that you only apply for the teams if you are able and committed to attending the Championships (on the above dates) if we qualify due to strict rules on reserves and replacements.

There will be a cost involved for the qualifiers which will be half the entry fee – if your team qualifies for the championship the club will pay your entry fee and any stabling.

Our contact numbers are:
Clare – 07533 864682
Sally – 07814 712116
We look forward to hearing from you!

In view of the large number of members wishing to be on teams for area qualifiers and some then lacking commitment to compete, thereby causing a large wasted expense to the club, it was passed at the last committee meeting, anyone wishing to enter qualifiers and/or championships, members pay the Area entry fee and the club pays the prelim entry fee to the BRC only. The club will continue to pay the full cost of entries and stabling fees for members who have gained qualifications to championships. Extreme /extenuating circumstances may be discussed on an individual basis.
